Review This is an excellent political thriller with some of Britains best actors. I particularly enjoyed Bill Nighy's performance but the rest of the frankly stellar cast are also excellent. It is a lot of entertainment for a very little price. Worth every penny.
Review Loved the pace and involved plot sending you in different directions. Good acting -loved Bill Nighy as the editor
Review I can see why so many viewers gave this a 5-star rating; the 1st 5 episodes were very exciting - but I couldn't really believe in the high profile of a rising politician who reacts to bad news with criminal violence (bloody faces, a broken jaw). Agree with N Pederson that the episode 6 twist was illogical and at odds with the powerful investigative skills demonstrated in previous episodes. The dialogue was so clipped in parts that I haven't worked out parts of the plot. 5-star for me means I want to watch it again repeatedly - don't care enough about any of the characters (except perhaps the Bill Nighy one) to wish to do this.
Review I was reminded of this series by the release of the hollywood film of the same name. If the film is only half as good as this series they will be doing very well indeed. This is an excellent story acted out by a top notch cast that made for a very long nights viewing. Once started it is very difficult to stop. Great entertainment more of the same please BBC.
Review Picked it up because it was on special. State of Play had me hooked from the first minute, and at no time did I guess how it would end. Excellent series, with brilliant actors. One of the few times I am actually going to watch a series from beginning to end and then want to start all over.
